'Longer queues' expected at Macclesfield recycling centre with repair works due to start soon

Repair works expected to last several months are taking place at Macclesfield household waste recycling centre, with residents advised to plan ahead.
Works will be starting from Monday 16 November, with new traffic management and re-arranged containers among the changes to expect while repairs take place.
Cheshire East Council has warned of the likelihood of longer queues, particularly at peak times, and advised that residents try to avoid Mondays and Tuesdays, which are the site's busiest days. The booking system for weekends will remain active.
As part of the repairs, traffic management will also be in place on-site, and containers will be positioned in a different area than usual.
Furthermore, the recycling and household waste centre will no longer accept wood, asbestos, rubble or plasterboard - but they can be left at alternative recycling sites in Cheshire East such as the Crewe and Alsager centres.
The site will also close intermittently for up to 30 minutes at a time so that skips can be exchanged and compacted to accommodate more waste.
Councillor David Jefferay, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for environment, sustainability and waste management, said: "The works we need to carry out at Macclesfield household waste recycling centre are unavoidable.
"We've scheduled them to take place at one of the quieter times of the year for visits, but we recognise that they are going to cause some disruption and have an impact on visitors' experience at the site.
"I'd like to thank residents in advance for their patience. We are making every effort to ensure the disruption is as minimal as possible, and that communication on site with residents is timely and clear so that when visitors arrive, they know what to expect."
