It has been one year since the opening of the Andrews Pharmacy Vaccination Clinic, who have helped protect Macclesfield's from COVID-19.

The Macclesfield pharmacy, which has a presence around town but has COVID-19 vaccines administered from 71 Kennedy Avenue, was one of the first pharmacies in the UK to offer a coronavirus vaccine on January 14 2021.

Celebrating this week with a cake and continuing to give out jabs, the Macclesfield Pharmacy has been working almost non-stop.

The amount of people in Macclesfield they have vaccinated is staggering.

106,768 first, second and booster jabs were given from January 14 2021 to December 31 2021.

With 300 days being open for vaccination (barring Christmas Day and Sunday's when they're shut), averages at 355.89 people vaccinated in Macclesfield per day.

And of course, the jabs are still happening now. You can book COVID-19 or indeed the flu jab with Andrews Pharmacy here.

One Macclesfield woman commended the pharmacy on their Facebook page with "Fantastic work Andrew and your army of volunteers. Think of how many lives you will have saved. Thank you so very much."

In the early days, this time one years ago, retired GPs and nurses even joined the vaccination effort.

The Macclesfield business was founded by Director Andrew Hodgson over three decades ago.

Hodgson told ITV one year ago it was one of the "biggest days of my career" as they were one of the first two pharmacies in the north west to give out the jab.

And their altruism has not stopped there. Multiple workers at Andrews Pharmacy have donated their wages to charity throughout the year, such as Millbank Drive's East Cheshire Hospice.

Nurses from the life-limiting illness care specialists even popped down to Andrews to help out administer jabs.

The pharmacy, situated in the ward of Macclesfield Upton Priory & Greenside also welcomed Macclesfield MP David Rutley.

Visiting Mr Hodgson in February 2021, our town's 60-year-old MP said: "The team should be rightly proud of the work that they are doing, which also helps demonstrate what other pharmacies are capable of doing in rolling out the vaccine across the country - I am very grateful to Mr Hodgson and his team."
