A new school for art based in Macclesfield town centre will launch this weekend.

The New Macclesfield School of Art is a name you are going to get used to.

While they have already have had a soft launch with a few smaller events, Saturday will see the official launch of the Park Lane initiative.

The New Macclesfield School of Art Launch and Open Day will take place at The Silk Museum on Saturday May 13.

All welcome for the event from 1pm-4pm.

Director Becca Smith said: "We're delighted to launch."

"Everyone's welcome to come learn about our workshops, masterclasses and children's session, plus info on upcoming Arts Awards and community projects.

"Artists will be providing demonstrations of their practice, including Virtual Reality, folklore illustration, using natural inks, printmaking and more. Live music in the garden from Helen Walford."
