Activists from Macclesfield have joined the call for climate justice.
Global Justice Macclesfield (GJM) headed to Manchester on Saturday, November 15, to take part in a protest calling for a transition away from fossil fuels.
The rally was one of 15 taking place in the UK and many more across the world as part of the 'Global Day of Action'.
This included thousands of climate protesters gathering outside the COP30 summit in Brazil where for the first time since 2021 public protest was permitted.
A GJM spokesperson said: "Those on the front line of climate breakdown, experiencing the most extreme impacts, are those who have the least responsibility for causing global warming through CO2 emissions.
"In solidarity with those poorer nations in the front line we call for climate justice where those with the broadest shoulders pay for climate adaptation and mitigation measures.
"We demand that polluters pay; fossil fuel companies having knowingly put their drive for profit above the well-being of us all and the survival of the planet.
"We demand that no new fossil fuel fields are developed and an urgent managed transition away from oil, coal and gas is agreed.
"Mid-way through this year's COP talks we wait to hear whether the nations' leaders will take the necessary action to avoid climate breakdown.
"We have hope – we need our leaders to step up to the challenge."
