Three people were arrested in central Macclesfield on Sunday evening, both from our area.

At around 8.30pm on Sunday 28 July police were called to reports of an incident in Macclesfield.

The caller reported that a car had stopped near to the garage on Churchill Way and a passenger had pointed what they believed to be a firearm out of the window.

Macclesfield Nub News reached out to Cheshire Police for comment.

"Local officers were deployed to the scene, with support of the firearms unit and the police helicopter, and the vehicle was located nearby," they said.

"The occupants of the car, a 22-year-old man from Langley; a 33-year-old man from Macclesfield; and a 19-year-old woman from Macclesfield; were all arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

"They have since been released on conditional bail."
