Macclesfield fundraisers The Buzzing Buddies are putting on a comedy night to raise funds for two national breast cancer charities.

An upcoming comedy evening will raise vital funds for two breast cancer charities.

The Boobee Campaign is a fundraising movement across the north west, and now it is Macclesfield's turn to enjoy one of their events.

On September 8, a comedy night will be held at Macclesfield Masonic Hall, of 1 Riseley Street.

The event will raise money for the charities Prevent Breast Cancer and Make 2nds Count.

More info on the September comedy night.

Organiser Paula Allen spoke with Macclesfield Nub News about the event.

"The Boobee Campaign is the brainchild of Margot Cornish and this is the third year of fundraising and raising awareness," said Paula.

"We are women based across Cheshire and Greater Manchester, most of whom have had or are living with breast cancer. There are loads of amazing events taking place. Geographically we are divided up into Hives! We are the Macclesfield hive, known as the 'Buzzing Buddies'.

"So far the Buzzing Buddies has raised over £10,159 in Macclesfield! [Plus a further £1450 with GiftAid].

According to the World Health Organisation, in 2022, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer across the globe. "Events so far include a quiz night, sponsored lake swim, sponsored abseil, one of our members swam for more than six hours at Lake Coniston! We have a fashion show coming up and our comedy night in September!

"We are fundraising for two important charities. Prevent Breast Cancer, fundraising to support a brand new National Breast Imaging Academy at the Nightingale Centre in Wythenshawe. And Make 2nds Count, which supports women living with secondary breast cancer.

"We really want to pollinate far and wide, raising awareness to as many people as possible!"

The comedy night kicks off from 7pm on Sunday September 8.

Tickets can be purchased at the bar at Macclesfield Masonic Hall, or by emailing Paula at [email protected].

"Thank you to everyone for their support," she added.

The local breast cancer super fundraisers hope to raise £15,000 by the time their latest campaign ends.

Paula and the buzzing buddies are not the only Macclesfield locals raising vital funds for the charity Prevent Breast Cancer. Earlier this year, Macclesfield Nub News covered a story of a Bollington woman with breast cancer who wants to raise £20,000 for the charity. Please click HERE to read that story.
