Macclesfield AstraZeneca staff raise thousands for good causes as new charity partners announced

AstraZeneca has raised thousands of pounds for local causes.
Employees at the pharmaceutical company's manufacturing site in Macclesfield helped to raise over £94,000 for charity in 2024.
Cheques of around £47,000 were recently presented to East Cheshire Hospice and Silklife Foodbank.
Guy Camm, AstraZeneca's Macclesfield Campus FM development manager, said: "Our employees know that our local charities need all the support they can get.
"We're constantly amazed at the wide variety of fundraising activities our teams always seem to have on the go!
"We're delighted to match the donations raised for these charities, both of which provide such crucial support to individuals and families across our community."
Alongside raising funds, staff at AstraZeneca Macclesfield regularly donate food and other essential items for the foodbank through two collection points permanently based on the site off Hulley Road.
The company also sponsors the annual Christmas Tree collection organised by East Cheshire Hospice.
Dan Blackman from Silklife Foodbank said: "AstraZeneca Macclesfield's financial contribution has helped us to make a really meaningful difference to the most vulnerable families in our local community."
Rachel Allcock from East Cheshire Hospice added: "Working with the AstraZeneca team is such a pleasure.
"Their staff never fail to raise much-needed funds for the hospice."

AstraZeneca recently announced its charity partners for 2025/26.
The firm will continue to support East Cheshire Hospice and has launched a new partnership with Just Drop In.
Mr Camm said: "Both charities provide crucial support to individuals and families across our community, and we are delighted to be supporting them during 2025/26."
Luke Oldham, corporate fundraiser from East Cheshire Hospice, added: "East Cheshire Hospice has been caring for those with long-term illnesses since 1988, and the relationship between AstraZeneca Macclesfield and the hospice has been a close one for many of those years."
Just Drop In supports children and young people aged 11-25 who live in the north of Cheshire East, providing counselling, support for wellbeing, professional training, resources for parents and carers and online safety, all free of charge.
Ann Wright, Just Drop In chief officer, said: "We are delighted to be one of the charity partners for AstraZeneca; we know that with their partnership we can make an even bigger difference in our community, supporting local children and young people who might be finding life hard."
