Macclesfield auctioneers offering Cristiano Ronaldo registration plate for thousands

An auctioneers who have a premises in Macclesfield will be selling a former car registration plate of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The reg number 'CR7 RON' was owned by one of the world's greatest footballers in his first stint at Manchester United.

The registration plate is not currently registered to any vehicle, so can be used on a car of your choosing, or kept as a collector's item.

It will hope to sell for tens of thousands of pounds at the end of this month.

The bottom of the two plates formerly belonging to the iconic athlete read 'MUFC - Theatre of Dreams -

Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers - of Macclesfield's Withyfold Drive - said in a statement:

"Adam Partridge Auctioneers are thrilled to be offering at auction what is simply the most iconic car number plate related to this mega star - CR07 RON.

"Combining his name with the number synonymous with the footballers brand - '07', this is a once in a life time opportunity for fans to own such a unique item.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time. His goal scoring record is second to none.

The plate has never been offered on the open market before, making this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It can even be bought by fans from outside the UK.

Mr Partridge himself added: "Only last year I appeared on Football Focus talking about the history of the FA Cup, and now I get another opportunity to handle a piece of footballing history.

"With Cristiano Ronaldo being such a global ambassador for the sport, the auction is bound to generate interest from all over the world, yet we have the opportunity to sell it just a few miles away from where he spent so many years entertaining fans in Manchester".

The plate is accompanied by the certificate of entitlement, meaning there are no restrictions for any buyers.

Just a few years ago another unique seven digit number plate KR15 HNA sold for a whopping £233,000, making the estimate on 'CR07 RON' at just £20,000-£30,000 seem incredible value for money.

The auction will be held on Wednesday March 30 at 10am.

It will be one of two private reg numbers sold at this month, with SE11 BOB also going under the hammer.
