Macclesfield-born Peter Crouch launches raffle with England World Cup 2022 star

By Alex Greensmith   15th Nov 2022

A Macclesfield-born footballer who played in two FIFA World Cup tournaments is doing a raffle to coincide with the current World Cup.

Peter Crouch is giving away some of his memorabilia, along with current England squad member Mason Mount.

The charity raffle is in association with online auctioneers eBay. It costs just £1 per entry and you can enter it here

Items up for grabs include Peter Crouch's England 2008/09 shirt, signed by David Beckham, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard, and boots that Mason Mount wore in the run to the UEFA Euro 2020 final.

The raffle winners will be announced before the 2022 World Cup ends, meaning you could wear the iconic items in time for the World Cup final, should the Three Lions make it.

Ahead of the winter World Cup, eBay reported one search every minute for 'football shirt' in October alongside a 188% increase in searches for 'England Kits'

All proceeds from the raffle will be donated two children's charities: Together for Short Lives and Rays of Sunshine.

The raffle runs until the December 5, in the midst of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Some items are valued at over £10,000. Other notable items includes a signed England training top by Peter Crouch, Liverpool jerseys and the striker's victory champagne.

The raffle launched on November 10, and there's just a few days left to enter.
Footballing legend, Peter Crouch, said: "I'm very proud of the football career I've had, both with my clubs and for England, so it brings me a lot of joy to be able to pass on the memorabilia that I've picked up over the years to my kids and to fans everywhere.

"The eBay raffle provides the chance to share bits of some of my favourite footballing history, and it's even better that every pound from the entries will go to such important causes."

Crouch spent the first year of his life in Macclesfield, before relocating to Singapore.

The tall forward played 42 times for England, scoring 22 goals.

Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, added: "You don't even need to support a specific club because both Peter and I have contributed pieces from our time playing for England so that everyone can get involved.

"The pieces I've donated have seen a lot of action, especially the boots that I wore throughout the last year.

"These hold a lot of memories for me that I'm happy to share with everyone. No matter what club you support we're all coming together to support England in this tournament and I'm personally glad we can raise money and awareness by supporting these children and their families."

The charity raffle and full list of prizes can be accessed on eBay's website here.
