Macclesfield boy releases inspirational new children’s book
A Macclesfield youngster has released his first-ever book - and he's only just turned six!
Felix Pickhan has released "Yes, There Are Monsters!" - an inspiring book about overcoming obstacles we may face.
There are versions for both boys and girls, and an accompanying colouring book has also been released.
To celebrate the book's launch, a meet and greet with the little author will take place later this month.
Felix will be signing books at a launch party for the children's novel on the day of the next Treacle Market.
On Sunday March 31, head to the Macclesfield Visitor Information Centre to attend the event.
Beyond this date, the Macclesfield Visitor Information Centre will also be stocking the book.
Macclesfield Nub News reached out to Felix and his mum for a chat.
The answers are prepped in a Q&A format.
And with the Q&A, just like the book itself, it was all typed by Felix.
Macclesfield Nub News: Hi Felix, how did the idea for you to write a book come about?
Felix Pickhan: This idea came to me one morning, when I waited for my parents to get ready for the day. I was in my room, saw my small square paper and started glueing them together, so I had a book. I thought about something, nobody wrote about it before. So I picked my nightmare, and my biggest fears at this time. Monsters. I started writing and drawing and imagined myself how I am beating the monsters up.
Macclesfield Nub News: I love the message of fighting our daily monsters. What is your favourite thing about the book?
Felix Pickhan: My favourite part of the book, if the son proves his mum that there are monsters.
Macclesfield Nub News: What do you think it is about the book that people love so much?
Felix Pickhan: Well, people told me, that they are inspired, to defeat their monsters too. Because if I little boy can do it, they can.
Macclesfield Nub News: I notice you are bi-lingual. That's amazing. What languages do you speak and is this book available in any other languages.
Felix Pickhan: Yes, I speak German an English. At the moment, this book is only available in English, but we will provide it in German too, so my friends in Germany can read it as well.
Macclesfield Nub News: I see you have an event at the Treacle Market in Macclesfield on March 31. Please can you tell me more about this?
Felix Pickhan: The Macclesfield Visitor Center invited me to sell and sign my books. I am very excited, because I prepared a surprise for everyone who is coming. I will be there from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Macclesfield Nub News: What are you going to do next? Are you going to write another book?
Felix Pickhan: I have already wrote another book. I love writing books. There are amazing things coming up. The best is to follow me on Instagram @felixpickhanofficial.
Macclesfield Nub News: Jennifer Pickhan, as a parent, how amazing is it that your son Felix has done this? Is there anything else you'd like to say as a proud mum?
Jennifer Pickhan: Of course, I am very proud of Felix. He had a great story in mind, wrote it down and create his own drawings. As an entrepreneur, I understand how important it is to lift individuals up and support them with their journey. My husband and I do believe the sky is the limit and want to make sure, that Felix receives the support he needs to achieve his goals. We encourage him to think big and make sure he has access to all the information to find his own way.
Macclesfield Nub News: Finally Felix, I have to ask as you have lived in three countries in such a short space of time. What do you love about living in Macclesfield?
Felix Pickhan: I love our life in Macclesfield. I love my school and my friends. It's great that I can do chose between so many great things to do and have time for my hobbies.
