A central Macclesfield carpark will be shut towards the start of this month.

The Jordangate multi-storey carpark, of 36 Jordangate, is being temporarily shut by Cheshire East Council.

In a statement they said: "Jordangate Car Park in Macclesfield will be closed partially from 7-8 May, and then fully from 9-11 May to allow for some patch repairs to take place."

"Signs will also appear on site soon to advise motorists of the works taking place.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

"Alternative parking is available at Grosvenor multi-storey, SK11 6AY (289 spaces, 20 disabled spaces – long stay)."

The council-owned Hibel Road Carpark, while smaller, is also just around the corner and even closer than the alternative proposed by Cheshire East.

The Jordangate carpark was opened in 1990, and has 317 spaces.

The Jordangate carpark is one of 21 Cheshire East-owned carparks in Macclesfield.
