Macclesfield runners raised thousands for a local charity as they competed in the Great North Run.

Beki Bettison, Zoe Dickinson, Miranda Naughton, James Hogben and Lindsey Rice took on the iconic 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday, September 13.

Together, they raised almost £3,500 for the Rossendale Trust, helping the charity to provide life-enhancing opportunities and services for adults with learning and physical disabilities, supporting them to live with dignity, independence and opportunity.

Reflecting on the event, Beki said: "The crowds and atmosphere were honestly incredible. What an experience, what a day!"

Susanne Tidswell, head of PR and fundraising at Rossendale Trust, said: "We are incredibly proud of Beki, Zoe, Miranda, James and Lindsey.

"Completing the Great North Run is a brilliant achievement, and raising almost £3,500 makes their efforts even more special.

"We are enormously grateful to everyone who supported the team, donated and cheered them on.

"Every pound raised makes a real difference to the adults we support across Cheshire."
