A Macclesfield good cause have opened their fourth charity shop in the town.

Windyway Trust have occupied a long-vacant unit on Churchill Way.

The new shop is at a former paint shop, the Churchill Way Unit, SK11 6AY opposite Tesco in central Macclesfield.

The new store specialises in furniture and bulkier items they can't stock in their other stores.

There's also a site on Crompton Road that they have previously used to sell furniture, but this new Churchill Way shop is a larger, more central way to sell these larger items.

Christine Earles is the Chairperson of Windyway Trust.

She explained what the new store is all about.

"We have been selling furniture on Crompton Road for a number of years now", she said.

"In 2022, we opened a pet food bank at Crompton Road, and we found that it has been getting incredibly busy at Crompton Road because of that along with our furniture offering.

"So we decided to have a look for a new store. Found here, got some local builders and sign makers in, and here we are.

"We have some lovely furniture in here and it is looking super. I am stunned at how good it looks now. Thanks to everyone involved."

When asked about why this new shop is great for the animals that Windyway rescue at their shelter up near Tegg's Nose, Christine had this to say:

"Because it adds to our revenue of course, but it also helps the people of Macclesfield.

"We support the animal rescue and rehabilitation of dogs, cats and domestic pets. And to be quite honest, the way things are these days, people really can't afford to buy new [furniture] all the time. So it is very prosperous at the moment to sell furniture that is affordable, and pre-loved.

"There's plenty of pre-loved furniture for your home. We do sell a secondhand pet [furniture] range as well.

"It is lovely to have gotten this far in 19 years, considering how humble we were in the beginning that we are so well supported in Macclesfield as well."

The opening hours for the Churchill Way furniture charity shop are the same for Windyway's two Chestergate stores, which is 9-4:30.

If you want to donate furniture for the new store, it is preferred you still go to their Crompton Road site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings. And you can also donate at the Windyway Chestergate store on the same side as Monocle Cafe, where there is a driveway.

And of course, any smaller items like clothing, CDs, and smaller trinkets can still be donated at either of their Chestergate shops.

"Please come along and support us," said Christine.

"We are really looking forward to this and we hope the people of Macclesfield will come and support us as they have been doing, and keep up the lovely loyalty."

Windyway Trust will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year.
