A good cause in Macclesfield has announced they are helping Santa take the reins on delivering some presents in Macclesfield this year.
Since 2022, Macclesfield Community Initiative - Macclesfield Children and Baby Library has provided free Christmas present packages for children of Treacletown.
The volunteer-led initiative, operating from Bethel Baptist Church on Calamine Street, offers essentials to parents for free or a small fee, from clothes to toys and more.
The good cause thrives on donations. And as everyone is a little bit more generous in the run up to the festive period, organiser Shannon Lancaster has co-ordinated a Christmas present delivery drive to families that need it in Macclesfield for three Christmas, at no cost to recipient families.
And if you want to donate a present to go to families that are struggling this Christmas, you can donate toys to Macclesfield Community Initiative - Macclesfield Children and Baby Library at Bethel Baptist Church.
"We are doing another Xmas appeal for the local kids of Macc," said organiser Shannon Lancaster.
"We already have more than last year signed on, so have more gifts to provide.
"We have an Amazon wishlist where you can buy toys and have it delivered to your home address, or Bethel Baptist Church, and SUGACANE toy shop have a box for us too for people donate to.
"All items from the wishlist will go to children in Macclesfield and surrounding areas who would otherwise go without or with less at Christmas.
"In 2022, we did just under 100 kids. In 2023, we did just over 150 kids and 20 adults.
"We managed to sort out children from Macclesfield and the surrounding areas, by dropping off gifts and allowing parents to collect their own if able, free of charge.
"This year we are already on over 150 requested.
"Every year we intend to give each child up to five gifts, depending on RRP.
"We are 'no criteria', which means families can ask for assistance even whilst working full time or not necessarily being under agencies who would usually refer them.
"We work on a trust basis and ask those who have referred their children to only do so if they cannot afford or will struggle this year.
"Our aim is to make sure every child can go back to school after xmas and all be able to join in the conversations about what they got without feeling left out.
"We also allow parents the options to choose their own gifts to make it feel like they're able to shop themselves a bit more."
But it is not just children in Macclesfield that Shannon and her team of volunteers will help this year.
"We are doing a few extra guys too so we also do Watermill House every year [supported living accommodation for young people in Macclesfield] as they don't get much support, we help Edge 360 which is women's refuge, and we are helping macc syrian and afghan refugee this year.
"We also have a small amount of spaces on our list this year for non-Macc families as Congleton Baby Library are not able to offer such help yet.
"Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Appeal [who are doing a shoebox appeal of their own], will receive an allotted amount too.
Once again, the Amazon Wishlist can be found HERE.
Donations can be made at Bethel Baptist Church, SUGACANE Toys, or Scents and Sassology.
The deadline for getting your donations in will be Friday December 20, to give volunteers time to collate packages for the big day.
