A Kickstarter for a new Macclesfield music festival has been launched.
The same team that brought Party in the Pews Festival to Macclesfield, face an uncertain future, due to their previous venue becoming unavailable.
Choose Macc aims to be a free-to-attend two-day festival on Macclesfield's Market Place, providing one day of live music and one day of day cinema screenings.
Every penny for the crowdfunder will go to bring bands to Macclesfield, plus backers of the new crowdfunder will get merchandise.
The town centre has been chosen to provide a knock on effect to boost local businesses, and make the event as accessible as possible.
But the show cannot go on without the funds for top quality acts.
Recent big names to have performed at festivals organised by the same people behind the crowdfunder include Peter Hook, Dodgy and Slow Readers Club.
Jo Lowes, organiser and Macclesfield resident wrote on behalf of all Choose Macc organisers, what the crowdfunder is all above.
"Over the last 4 years Jo and the team have worked tirelessly to create an amazing festival called Party in the Pews in Macclesfield," she said.
"Despite being a sell out for the last two years due to the limitations of the building (no water / toilets etc.) and venue hire costs from CCT quadrupling Party in the Pews at Christ Church is no longer financially viable based on the number of people it can hold.
"Moving forward the festival will be back in 2025 and become free to attend [for the first time].
"The festival would again be two days, but the aim is to make the event even more family friendly. The first day would be original live music and the second would be screening films making use of the erection of the stage / sound / lighting / general event infrastructure for 2 days.
"The event will run from 12pm – 10pm on Saturday May 3 2025 and Sunday May 4.
"Macclesfield Town Council and our sponsors are again supporting with funding but this will only cover about a third of the costings needed and as the event is now free to attend there is no income from ticket sales so we need the people of Macc to get behind the festival again and this time pay what they can.
"As Jo and the team are all volunteers every penny will go to booking amazing bands so the more we raise the better our line up and the better the fest will be!"
However, there are just a few days left to make donations.
T"he deadline for this is December 12 and if the minimum goal isn't raised by then the festival will get nothing and all pledges will be returned so it really is all of nothing," explained Jo.
