A Macclesfield cinema has become a new venue for a Macclesfield stand-up night.

Nodding Dog Comedy host a regular rotation of venues across the town like RedWillow Macclesfield on 32A Park Green, and formerly Macclesfield Rugby Club.

The event is usually hosted by Macclesfield comic Jonathan Mayor, and will now be coming to Cinemac for the first time.

The Roe Street venue inside The Old Sunday school is taking a big swing in live events in 2023, with concerts and now comedy to compliment their already packed movie-offering.

Headlining the launch event is the hugely talented stand-up, comedy actress and writer Lucy Beaumont.

The Hull comic stars in and co-wrote the highly-rated sitcom of her real-life marriage to TV's Jon Richardson titled Meet The Richardsons.

She's also the co-host of Jon & Lucy's Odd Couples on Channel 4, which is on the telly right now.

As a multi-award winner for her stand up comedy she has also appeared on numerous entertainment shows including QI, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Jonathan Ross Show, and Celebrity Gogglebox.

Lucy comes to Macc: The East Yorkshire comedian is also a keen support of charities.

Her performance in Macclesfield precedes the start of her full UK tour later this year that will see her selling out venues including The Lowry in Salford, London's Bloomsbury Theatre and the nearby Buxton Opera House.

Another recognisable comic will be your MC for the evening. Jarred Christmas has been described as 'one of the funniest people to ever pick up a microphone'. The New Zealander has won multiple awards and is a regular on TV shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Nevermind The Buzzcocks.

Opening the show will be Scott Bennett. Last year he made his made Live At The Apollo debut and has since gone on to sell out a full UK tour. He's one to watch as a future household name.

Rounding out the line-up is fellow Live At The Apollo alum, Spring Day. Continuing the international diversity of the line-up, Spring is an American stand-up comedian, writer and actor.

Spring's uniquely acerbic and sassy style of comedy is always a crowd pleaser (or shocker). You may recognise her from the BBC Three sitcom that she both wrote and starred in, called Jerk

Nodding Dog Comedy owner Kev Rook has been blown away by the reaction that this first Cinemac event has received, before a single joke has been told.

"We absolutely love Macclesfield from our monthly RedWillow show alone, where we consistently bring high profile TV comedians to a small intimate venue, but this has been something else. We sold over 150 tickets for the event before the release of the line up.

"Now that people can see the quality on offer we're aiming for this to be one of our biggest ever shows. It is quite literally Live At The Apollo in Macclesfield!

Left to right: Bennett, Christmas, Beaumont and Spring.

"We've stuck to our commitment of bringing the best of UK comedy to the town at an accessible price, by keeping tickets at just £15, as they are at RedWillow. We're so excited about this lineup of comedians, they are all brilliantly talented performers, at the top of the industry, and I have a feeling that this is going to be something quite special".

With a pop up bar from RedWillow on site too you can support three great Macclesfield enterprises by purchasing a ticket - but be quick! This is on it's way to being a sell out.

Cinemac Director Jordan Wilson said: ""On April 14th we are delighted to be hosting our first Nodding Dog Comedy event," said Jordan.

"It will be one of four stand-up nights at Cinemac this year.

"We're excited to add another string to our bow so to speak, by adding live comedy.

"Cinemac is a perfect venue for live comedy, it is a great size, we have the sofas, and cat fit up to 500 seated on the balcony as well which is great numbers really.

"I remember seeing a few of these comics on Live at the Apollo and loving them so it is going to be a laughter-filled evening."
