A central Macclesfield home could be turned into a commercial unit with more residential flats.
The Park Street property could be all set to change, according to a new planning application on the Cheshire East Council website.
The plans regard 23 Park Street, Macclesfield, SK11 6SR.
It asks for a "Change of use part existing ground floor from house C3 to shop E1 & conversion to apartments."
Applicant Mr Alexsandro Arelaos with Agent Gary Walker have applied for the changes to the 1065 square foot address.
The site, currently used as two four-bedroom dwellings, would be replaced by a commercial unit and four flats.
One part-time and two full-time jobs would be created from the addition of a retail unit to the ground floor.
It would be a business open from 9am to 5pm on a weekday, and 9am to 2pm on a Saturday, if approved.
The proposed shop would come with a shop floor, cloakroom and toilet, with one flat being on the ground floor.
The rest of the flats would be upstairs. A basement would be used as storage.
The site lies within the High Street Conservation Area.
A planning document reads: "The proposed changes to the external appearance of the building include a larger front window to Park street and a larger side window along St. Georges street.
The proposed windows will serve the shop. If these are deemed too large and not in keeping with the building we have scope to retain these".
It later adds: "The proposed change of use, would not change the principal view and setting of the building. The change of use would also ensure the long term future of the property which, is structurally sound but will require ongoing maintenance. The proposal would not cause any harm to this heritage asset.
"The proposed change of use at ground floor involves minor amendments to the elevation including the window enlargement and combining 2 windows to 1 larger window. Minor alterations are required internally and the sub division of the existing property makes better use of the space and also provides additional local housing for rented accommodation.
"The building as a whole as part of these proposals would not cause any harm to the heritage asset."
The nature of the shop has not been indicated from the planning application.
