A Macclesfield health business has won the approval of The Queen - by receiving the most sought after business award.

Illingworth Research Group, located on the Tytherington Business Park, received a Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2021.

This means the Macclesfield business is permitted to use the esteemed Queen's Awards emblem for the next five years.

The company provides a range of patient focused clinical services to the pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device and biotechnology industries.

The awards honour the "highest levels of excellence" in business, and have been held annually for 55 years.

John Illingworth, Chairman, had this to say on the remarkable achievement:

"To be awarded this prestigious award for our sustained achievements and consistent organic growth is something we are all incredibly proud of.

"The passion and dedication of all our employees continues to ensure we can deliver solutions which support patients wanting to participate in clinical research, whatever their background or geography whilst focusing on reducing the patient burden.

"This award from The Queen will help enable Illingworth to continue to deliver its mission of making clinical research accessible for all."

Illingworth Research Group are one of 16 businesses from the North West have received a 2021 award.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country.

Other categories for the business awards other than international trade include innovation and sustainable development.

In total, Illingworth are one of the 205 nationwide recipients of the Royal award.

This follows the Macclesfield company's December 2020 SCRIP award, which acknowledged the critical role that specialist clinical trial providers in particular play in drug development.

Illingworth's double win marks the first time in the same year a pharmaceutical company has received both the industry SCRIP award, and Queen-approved Awards for Enterprise.

Employing over 200 people across the globe, plus well over 1200 Mobile Research Nurses, Illingworth Research was set up in 1998 providing clinical research services before diversifying into patient centric clinical research solutions.

These include Mobile Research Nursing, Patient Concierge and Medical Imaging.
