We only spoke to Macclesfield's answer to Strictly Come Dancing three weeks ago, and now the local Latin dance teacher will become a minor celebrity.

Cheshire's 'Mr Strictly' AKA professional dancer Mark Farrugia is hoping to pick up even more dance tips when he hot foots it onto national radio this weekend, as a celebrity guest with TV presenter Claudia Winkleman.

It was only on October 18 when we published an article with Mark, about his lessons at Macclesfield's Morton Hall Community Centre.

Mark gives classes at the Macclesfield Union Road venue every Tuesday morning.

He then appeared on BBC Midlands Today in an uplifting TV news piece, and now he's set to make moves on the airwaves.

The cheerful dance teacher, who travels all over Cheshire and Staffordshire with his weekly classes, has found his dance magic is now in the spotlight with bosses of Strictly Come Dancing, as Winkleman's show will promote the Saturday night programme.

The Maltese-born performer got an email from BBC Radio 2 this week asking if he wanted to be part of Claudia Winkleman's Strictly panel.

He thought it was a fake at first, but now will be making his debut on national radio with the former Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter.

Mark has danced at professional level and set up his classes Strictly Latin Dance Fit/Fit steps due to his love of the legendary TV dance show.

Mark can't wait to talk to Claudia and hear all about Strictly's latest news and gossip, plus sharing some of his dance knowledge and views.

Mark said: "I'm incredibly excited about my appearance with Claudia this weekend.

"She seems such a lovely person. I watch Strictly every Saturday night.

"I just love the show and it was that programme which led me to launch my classes. Everyone loves Strictly and dancing is such good fun.

"My students love coming to my classes. Classes are booming and it's just wonderful to see everyone having such a good time."

You can book his Tuesday 11am Macclesfield classes here.

Spaces for his lesson on Tuesday November 9 will fill up quickly after his national radio appearance.

Mark is due to appear on BBC Radio 2 at 11.30 am on Saturday morning and Macclesfield Nub News will be listening to hear what our famous dancer has to say.

Last week, we reported on the the Macclesfield community space Mark teaches in.
