It may look like something out of Manchester's Northern Quarter, but this stunning shopfront is actually a new music store in Macclesfield.

Proper Sound, located on 8 Chestergate is a unique space for audio, apparel and art.

The new hub for music lovers in Macclesfield will sell LPs, clothing and hot drinks by day, then serving music-themed cocktails, beers or soft drinks in the early evening.

Proper Sound Co-Founder James King said: "Proper Sound is a place where like minded people can come relax, enjoy the environment, enjoy the music, enjoy the arts, and have a drink or a bite to eat.

Proper Sound brings the taste of a trendy music shop and bar in Manchester, to Macclesfield.

"It is a celebration of culture, particularly from Macclesfield and the Manchester area.

"We sell movie-related items to music prints made in Macclesfield.

"We've got all-sorts. A great selection for anyone curious to come have a look."

The stock ranges from a plethora of vinyls, affordable but quality clothing, and music or non-music related merchandise that would make great gifts.

They'll serve coffee and cookies in the daytime, along with being able to browse and buy the audio, apparel and art.

Rare album pressings by local bands Joy Division and Doves, along with singles from smaller Macclesfield musicians are highlights of the broad vinyl offering.

Local support also comes with Macclesfield companies Forest Gin and SiDa, having their drinks sold at Proper Sound.

Proper Sound seats 25, which includes an enclosed window at the left shopfront, where you can have a photo recreating the album cover from Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe.

It competes with the stunning Ian Curtis mural in the outdoor courtyard as Proper Sound's marquee feature. The tribute to the Joy Division frontman is the first mural in the town dedicated to the ex-Macclesfield musician and civil servant.

"Macclesfield is going to be a vibrant hub for young people to want to live.

"It has wonderful countryside and Macclesfield Forest, two hours from the train from London, and now with this we've got great cultural links as well."
