An independent business in Macclesfield has celebrated their two-year anniversary.

Olive Open Kitchen & Deli, open Monday to Saturday, serves Mediterranean bakes, pastries and customisable salads as well as sweet treats.

The business is located at 77 Mill Street, at a unit which was previously a long-shut unit last occupied by American sandwich chain Subway.

"Olive is somewhere where you can get decent, honest food at a reasonable price," said Kemal.

"We're called Olive as my family are from North Cyprus, and my colleague Michele Loruso is Italian. We built it together, and we have decades of experience between us. 

"Michele designed the interior, we built it all ourselves by hand. And all of our sandwiches and salads are handmade as well. 

"We decided to have an open kitchen as we wanted everyone to see how passionate we are in making the food. 

"[Quite like the South European way of life] We work in a very family-oriented atmosphere, and want to embrace that with other people as well really. We would like to say a massive thank you to the Macclesfield community for their support these past two years.

Punters who prefer grab-and-go style lunches are regulars at Olive, as are those about to catch a bus, given Olive being opposed Macclesfield Bus Station.

Top sellers include fresh focaccia and tiramisu eclairs.

A USP over the years has been their artisanal, Italian pastries, and the catering they can pre-prepare for corporate or family events.
