Musicians and charities from Macclesfield will be celebrated in a rocking night out.

Macclesfield Mayor Sandy Livingstone has two charities that he will raise with the help of the community Turing his term as Mayor.

And one of the ways he is going to raise that money, is through events. So on Saturday September 14, a Battle of the Bands will take place in Macclesfield.

The supergig will take place at Cinemac on Roe Street, and features collaboration from numerous organisations, for a real community effort.

"As Mayor I am keen to promote arts and culture," said Mayor Sandy Livingstone.

"Thanks to Jo Lowes who has successfully run Party in Pews/Choose Macc, Battle of the Bands will provide a stage for our great local bands, raise money for my charities Macc Artspace and Space4Autism, and support our local cinema Cinemacc which we need to cherish."

The former charity provides free art classes in the community, whereas the latter is a charity which supports the autistic community.

If your band wants to apply please email [email protected]

The event costs £5 to attend. And bring cash as there will be buckets for extra donations on the day.

It is not too late to take part in next month's event.

Bands can email [email protected] by August 25, registering their interest to take part.

Macclesfield Town Council is looking forward to the event.

"Choose Macc and the Mayor of Macclesfield are joining forces," added Macclesfield Town Council.

"Whether you are in a band who fancies a spot at the next Choose Macc festival (previously known as Party in the Pews) or you really want the PR as a prize, or if you want to come along and cheer on your friends and find out who comes out as the winner - get Saturday September 14 in your diary.

"Tickets are £5 and money goes to Space4Autism and Artspace- the chosen charities of Mayor Cllr Sandy Livingstone."
