A new sandwich shop has opened in Macclesfield.

Lazy Joe's has opened on London Road today.

The breakfast, sandwich and gelato spot is the passion project of Nicola Winder.

"Lazy Joe's is a brand new sandwich, gelato, pie and milkshake shop", said Nicola.

"We are a family run business, I gave up my NHS job to come and start the business.

"We are open six day a week, and hope to cater for the local community."

The south Macclesfield butty shop features a novel ordering system for an independent business, with two touch screens where people can make (and pay for) their order alongside a traditional ordering at the counter.

The screens will make it easier than ever to customise your order, and prove handy when the store is at its busiest.

Their menu spans paninis, pastries, subs - including one called the Macc Reuben - and salad boxes.

There is over 13 flavours of gelato, in what will be a USP for the new venture.

"I've always wanted to be my own boss and open a shop like this", added Nicola.

"We have a make your own sandwich menu, and it is easy to customise with our touch-to-order system.

"We also have a 'Super Six' sandwiches, with the New Yorker being my favourite. The Reuben is something a bit different that you can't get much around here.

"We want to stand out, we want to be different, so it isn't on sliced bread or rolls, we served our sandwiches on a torpedo sub."

Local produce has been employed, with a Cheshire farm's milk for the gelato and Wildboarclough's Crag Spring Water on sale.

Premium milkshakes and a large selection iced drinks to keep cool this summer round out the menu.

As well as the business being named after her son, Nicola has been supported by her partner Mark Winder, who runs Bear Grylls in Congleton, a similar business that Mark has shared his expertise on.

"We know there is a real buzz on the Moss Estate about our opening, and obviously there is the football club next door," explained Nicola.

A huge thank you to the community because there has been so many people popping their head in at every stage of getting this together.

"Family and friends have been brilliant too. The biggest thank you has to go to Mark, he has built this place with his own bare hands. [Pun not intended].

"We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to Lazy Joe's, we look forward to being busy and meeting and greeting new people."

Lazy Joe's will be open from 8am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday.

Given the store's proximity to both the Moss estate and Macclesfield FC, and a main road, the new venture hopes to take the town by storm.

Lazy Joe's is located at 157 London Road, Macclesfield, SK11 7SP.
