Englishman Dan Wallis is six foot zero inches, and Macclesfield FC's latest signing.

A tall goalkeeper has joined Macclesfield FC on a short-term deal.

Dan Wallis, who has played in Europe and has over 1,000 followers on Twitter, will hope to be a steady presence between the sticks to help secure The Silkmen's promotion from the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

Born in April 1999, the 22-year-old originally from Leicester, is the fourth keeper currently registered in the squad, alongside Sam Ashton, Elliot Cooper and Ben Pierce.

In a statement, the club said: "Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of six foot goalkeeper Dan Wallis, who has joined the Club until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

"The 22-year-old started his career at Derby County, before joining Sheffield Wednesday as a scholar back in 2015.

"Dan progressed through the ranks at Hillsborough, becoming an integral part of their Under-18 and Under-23 sides.

"During the 2017/18 campaign, Dan was one of the stand-out players in the Wednesday side that finished third in the Professional Development League 2 and he went on to sign a one-year contract extension at Hillsborough the following summer.

"Despite this, Dan was released by the Championship side in the summer of 2019 and would go on to enjoy spells with Norweigan side Valdres FK, Nottingham Forest, Chesterfield, Matlock and Grantham Town.

"After signing for Gainsborough Trinity in January 2020, Dan then moved to Stamford in August 2021 and returned to Matlock four months later.

"Dan left The Proctor Cars Stadium last week, after starring in a number of Northern Premier League top-of-the-table clashes and we are delighted that he has chosen to join our promotion push.

"We would like to wish Dan every success here at the Leasing.com Stadium and will be catching up with him shortly to discuss the move.

"In addition to this, we would like to thank Tom Weston from Ignite Soccer Agency for his help in facilitating Dan's signing."

He could make his Silkmen debut this weekend at Charnock Richard.

But you can see him play in our town the following weekend at Skelmersdale United, in what promises to be a heated top-of-the-table clash.

Including the once-registered-as-a-player goalkeeping coach Steve Hodgson, Wallis is the fifth man to sign up to be between the sticks for Macclesfield FC.
