Rail operator Avanti West Coast have been ravaged by COVID-19 related staff shortages, but thankfully journeys from Macclesfield Station will remain largely unaffected.

Despite temporary timetable changes, our town's train station on Waters Green has business as normal.

A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast said: "You will have probably read that from Monday 17 January until Friday 25 February we will be operating a reduced timetable to help us manage staff shortages and ensure a reliable service, so our customers can travel with confidence."

"However I'm pleased to report that this doesn't affect Macclesfield which still gets its hourly Avanti West Coast service to both Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston.

"Some of the times will however have changed so the advice to customers is to check the Avanti West Coast website for the latest updates about their journey.

"Typically now the services to London depart Macclesfield (Mon-Fri) just after the half hour. Services for Manchester just after the hour."

You can find live timetables for Macclesfield departures and arrivals on this webpage.
