Macclesfield FC Reserves have had their competition confirmed for the 2021-22 season.

The second team to our town's new football club was accepted into the Cheshire Football League umbrella of leagues.

They will play in League Two of the Cheshire Football League. Local clubs Macclesfield FC Reserves will face include separate club AFC Macclesfield - who were formerly known as AFC Woodford.

Other local clubs they'll face next season include Warrington Town Reserves, along with West Disbury & Chorlton Reserves.

The senior squad had this to say on the news regarding Macclesfield FC Reserves:

"We are delighted with the news that our new Reserve Team have been accepted into the Cheshire League for the 21/22 campaign.

"Thank you to everyone who played their part in making this happen."

Other clubs that have absorbed into the Cheshire Football league with The Silkmen's reserve team, included Avon Villa FC Reserves and Ashton Town FC Reserves.

The Cheshire League comprises of five competitions. A Premier Division, League 1, League 2 (where Macc Reserves will play) and two further reserve leagues.

The Cheshire League is Step 6 on the Football Pyramid, which is one tier below where Macc's first team will play next season.

The Cheshire League said: "Record levels of interest and applications show us the regard the League is held in".

We will be reporting on Macclesfield FC Reserves results, when the new season starts in a few months time.

It will start either on July 31 or on August 7.

The news comes just nine days after the first team had their league confirmed for their upcoming debut season.
