A Cheshire musician has spoke to Macclesfield Nub News ahead of her first gig in Macclesfield in over two years.

Sam Lyon (26), from Winsford, will perform at The Plough Inn in Macclesfield, this Saturday evening on June 5.

The full-time musician and singer-songwriter, who has lived in Cheshire all her life, has emotive tunes with a pop-folk classical crossover.

Following winning a national music competition and launching a crowdfunder for her debut album earlier this year, she can't wait to keep the momentum going with this weekend's cozy gig in Macc.

"I used to play in Macclesfield quite often before the lockdowns, so this will be a nice little comeback into the area", she said.

"It will be an easy mix of covers and originals. A stripped back acoustic show to accompany the enjoyment of your weekend.

"My favourite thing about Macc is that I think it is so photogenic. There are all these little cobbled streets that I love.

"But the community vibe is also great as well. I used to play The Snow Goose quite often. And every time I would go the place would be filled to the brim with music lovers and people who appreciate live acts.

"I always love going to Macclesfield, such lovely and kind people, and I have always remembered that about Macc."

The tour which also includes big dates in Manchester, is to celebrate a return to live performing, but also to promote her music and the crowdfunder for her debut album.

It will be 14 tracks of completely original music, with some of the money going to orchestras and choirs to compliment her powerful songwriting.

"The new album comprises of my best work of songs written before, during and after lockdown.", the independent artist added.

"A lot of the songs are mental health related because of the personal journey I've been on through the lockdown. The isolation and losing my Dad [to which Sam's latest single is in memory of].

"So it will continue what I've seen in my previous singles where a lot of people can relate to my personal take on things, because they've been through it themselves or can apply to my words even if it is not the same experience.

"Especially with this album, I think a lot of people are going to have gone through similar things to me whether it is losing someone, or struggling to be on their own after being such a social butterfly for so long.

"I think [the album] will strike a chord with people and I hope it does in some way because I find peace and reassurance in listening to music, and particularly lyrics that I can relate to."

Simply visit The Plough Inn to see Sam perform on Saturday from 9pm.

She will also return to Macc and perform at the same Prestbury Road pub on August 28.

You can also catch Sam headlining the nearby Knutsford Music Festival on August 13.

You can listen to her music ahead of her Macclesfield performance on Spotify or Apple Music.

Sam also performs at weddings across Cheshire. You can also contact her for bookings via social media.

This includes Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Sam's latest single Feels Like Heaven is out now. The music video can be viewed here.

Sam also has eco-friendly merch for sale on her website.
