Macclesfield firefighters have discovered the body of a man following a fire at a Congleton bungalow.

At around 5am yesterday (13th April), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a bungalow in Woodlands Park, Congleton.

On arrival crews from Macclesfield, Sandbach and Congleton discovered that the fire was confined to one room.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.

A large fan was then used to clear smoke from the property whilst firefighters checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Sadly, firefighters discovered the body of a man in the bungalow. His next of kin have been informed.

"Fire investigators have attended the scene to establish the cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious."

Firefighters were in attendance for several hours.

Nub News is awaiting further details.
