A new tea room has opened on the east of Chestergate.

Georgian Tea Rooms opened earlier this month, by Macclesfield resident Debbie Jones.

"Georgian Tea Rooms is a quiet, relaxing tea room," said Debbie.

"We have classical music on here, and specialise in a broad variety of tea.

"We have 12 teas at the moment, and hope to gradually increase the teas that we offer.

"It is made properly at certain temperature, brewed for the correct length of time.

"We try and match the crockery with the plates. It is all vintage china.

"To go with the the tea we have nice homemade traditional cakes which my aunties would use to make.

"We also do more dishes like jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches with homemade coleslaw.

"We also stock a chutney which supports a mental health charity, use local bread and dairy.

"We have hand-pressed and sparkling juices. Coffees as well.

"Everything we do buy in is really nice, we are keen on quality, and that goes through the whole business.

"There's seven of us that work here and we are all local. Currently, we have 35 covers but we would like to expand into the four rooms on our top floor.

"The feedback is lovely so far, people are enjoying the atmosphere and is saying it is something that Macclesfield needs.

"We appeal to the older demographic and people enjoy that they can come here and not be in a rush."

"Macclesfield seems a really friendly place. The pace of life is a lot slower which is quite nice as well.

"My favourite place to eat in town is Pete's Chippy [of 39 Duke Street]

"I first fell in love in Macclesfield in September 2021, it was raining, but seeing the rain on the cobbles near St. Michael's on Market Place was a lovely moment.

"You can tell Macclesfield has a lot of history, and that really appealed to me. Along with our town's fast service to London, as I have family there.

"I really like it here, I moved here in January and it already feels like home."

Debbie's sister Linda also moved to Macclesfield a few months after Debbie, and now they have opened their own company, making Georgian Tea Rooms a family busines.s

They will also hope to expand into upstairs, and provide top-of-the-range bookable afternoon tea sessions, filling in a niche for Chestergate that was lost when The Copper Room shut earlier this year.

Georgian Tea Rooms is located on 43 Chestergate, Macclesfield SK11 6DG.
