Macclesfield hairdresser swaps scissors for pints as she takes over community pub

A Macclesfield hairdresser has swapped scissors for pints.
Richia O’Neill, former manager of Mawson Hairdressing on Chestergate, has taken over The Lawton Arms in Church Lawton.
Having decided it was time for a career change, the mum-of-two is now pulling pints, joined behind the bar by her son, daughter and goddaughter.
She said: "I'd always wanted to run a pub and then this opportunity came up.
“It's a great community pub and everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. The support we've had so far has been amazing.
"It's a fabulous environment. I just want everyone to enjoy the pub and have a good time.”

Owned by Robinsons Brewery, The Lawton Arms on Liverpool Road West reopened on Wednesday (June 25).
Richia has already announced plans for a new play area as well as a big party to welcome the local community..
"It's a fantastic location and we've already put Sky Sports in so people can come and watch the matches,” she said.
“We'll also be having a quiz night.
“We've spent a while cleaning out everything and getting the pub ready to reopen and we're delighted with how it now looks.”

The Lawton Arms opens from 2pm to 11pm on Monday and Tuesday, midday to 11pm Wednesday through Saturday and from midday to 10pm on Sundays.
They are not currently serving food but are on the lookout for a new chef.
Richia added: "From what we hear, the previous chef was brilliant so if they would like to get in touch we'd be delighted to hear from them."
