Macclesfield: Inaugural wine and wool night at Crafty Corner

While it is not quite a wine and cheese night at 10 Downing Street, a wine and wool and words night will take place in Macclesfield this evening.

There's just one online ticket left for knit one, sip one, a unique evening of evening of wine, knitting and literature at Crafty Corner.

The hour-and-a-half event at the Mill Street yarn and haberdashery store costs just £4, and could become a future social group.

The ticket includes a glass of wine or hot drink, but you are welcome to bring your own.

You should also bring your latest knitting project with you.

The event is organised by poet Dr Jo Bell, who will occupy the space from her friend and owner of Crafty Corner Lynda Speakman.

"This Thursday evening in #Macclesfield, I combine my writerly and knitterly selves for a reading of various authors' thoughts on knitting. Book online or pay £4 on the door. Wine included - yarn purchases at your own peril."

You can buy yarn at Crafty Corner until 4pm today, but if you need to buy some later in the evening please contact Crafty Corner's founder Lynda Speakman on 01625 404195.

Hurdsfield born-and-bred Lynda said: "This is a one-off. But we would definitely love to do it again."

"I know Jo well. She is a national poet. And was saying she had wanting to do this event for a number of years, but in our old shop [which was also on. Mill Street, across the road] it wasn't quite the right atmosphere as it was a bit small.

"Whereas with this one we work between floors, it is a lot bigger and we've got space for this event.

"We do different workshops all the time here. Like a felt robin workshop coming up on Saturday as well. We've always got something going on."

The group size should be around 12-13 people.

The unique Macclesfield independent store will have been in their new 81 Mill Street premises for six months in January 2022.

You can secure the last ticket for tonight here.
