A small business inside Macclesfield Indoor Market in the Grosvenor Centre are doing their bit to help in the cost of living crisis.

eLOV, who deliver packages sustainably delivered by cargo bike, have launched a new initiative to support Macclesfield's foodbank.

Next time you are shopping in Macclesfield Indoor Market, why not drop off some food for eLOV to take to Silklife Foodbank on George Street?

eLOV Owner Russ Hope and his team of riders will deliver the package by electric bike, using less emissions than it would take to deliver by car.

And unlike eLOV's other delivery services, this donation point delivery costs you nothing.

"We are delighted to announce that Town Centre Shoppers can now drop off Food Donations at the ELOV Cargo Bike Deliveries Store in the Grosvenor Centre Indoor Market," said Silklife Foodbank's Dan Blackman.

"Director, Russ and his carbon neutral team already help to deliver our food parcels without charge to clients referred to the foodbank.

"ELOV have recently set up a base in the Indoor Market and are open Tuesday till Saturday 11am till 2pm, and will be happy to take your donations for Silklife Foodbank and deliver them to us when we are open.

"Please take a look at the poster to see what we accept. You can also make a donation if you prefer to Silklife Foodbank through JustGiving."

The initiative comes just days after the delivery company launched two new sustainable initiatives; collecting single-use plastic to be recycled and reusing cardboard.

Macclesfield resident and eLOV founder Russ Hope added: "We're delighted to support this Silklife Foodbank with our new drop-off point. The response so far has been incredible.

"As a business, it is great to help out in our community, and it also helps spread the good word about what we are doing to help fight the climate crisis by having less trucks and car deliveries on the road."

Government figures suggest 2.5% of all UK households (700,000) used a food bank in 2019-20, a figure that is presumed to get much higher in the coming months following COVID and now rising living costs and inflation rates.
