Macclesfield man charged after stealing from shop and fleeing on bike with class A

A Macclesfield man has been charged after stealing from a shop in Crewe, and fleeing the scene on his bike with a class A "controlled substance."
On Thursday 15 August, Cheshire Police received reports of an shoplifting incident at TK Maxx, Grand Junction Retail Park, Crewe.
At around 8pm, officers arrived at the scene, discovering a man had stolen items, leaving the department store chain on bike.
Police soon identified the man, chasing him on foot towards Crewe town centre.
A member of the public tackled the shoplifter off his bike, with officers on hand to restrain him.
The man was found with a controlled class A substance and swiftly arrested.
Christopher Henderson, 42 from Macclesfield, has been charged with theft from a shop and possession of a controlled substance.
He is set appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 5 September.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At roughly 8pm on Thursday 15 August, we were made aware of a shoplifting incident at TK Maxx on the retail park in Crewe.
"Patrol officers were deployed and the male had tried to flee the area on a bike.
"Officers identified the male on attendance, and he was pursued on foot towards the town.
"A member of the public assisted officers in tackling him off his bike before he was physically restrained and arrested.
"A search of the male found items of interest including a controlled class A substance.
"Christopher Henderson, 42 from Macclesfield has been charged with theft from a shop and possession of a controlled substance.
"He will appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 5 September."
