A central Macclesfield retail unit looks like it has given up on being a commercial unit.

21 Church Street, formerly occupied by NV Beauty until they moved out in November 2023, could become accommodation.

That is according to a planning application on the Cheshire East Council website, for a "change of use from retail shop to apartment accommodation."

At the start of the year, Macclesfield Nub News reported a sign in the window which read 'OPENING SOON'.

However, the signs were removed and a new business has not opened there since.

Fast forward to August, and this new planning application has been submitted.

The proposed flat would be a one bedroom apartment, with the same bins and sewage used as per before. No internal floor space is proposed to be added to the pre-existing 30 metres.

Residents can submit comments until September 18.
