Macclesfield man wants to take the hassle out of businesses' social media
A Macclesfield man is helping small businesses thrive through social media.
George Morrison is about to celebrate three years of his business Flownamix Media Productions.
The 25-year-old goes round Macclesfield with his trusty camera taking small independent businesses' social media to the next level.
The former Macclesfield Academy pupil who currently lives on the Weston explained how Flownamix came about.
"Flownamix started as me doing social media posts and video editing for businesses," he said.
"One of our main messages we send is that business owners shouldn't be wasting their time on social media and creating content, when they could be running their business.
"We want to encourage more businesses to get in touch, most are scared of the cost, but I really want to help local business at the moment with the rise in costs and such and we are very affordable for any business.
"I don't try to paint ourselves as an SEO pay-per-click place, as we are content creators first. We tailor the content for each social media platform. A lot of marketing companies just add social media as a side service, but for us it is our focus.
"I used to be a composer so I have a huge network of creatives. If there's something we can't do for a client initially we have the means to make it happen. We must have hired about 50 creatives from Macclesfield in the last year alone.
"We do a lot of work with gyms, but will work with anyone who comes to us. And we do it not just for companies but for events as well now. We've even made a short film for the 'SAVE DANES MOSS' campaign recently."
The University of Salford alumni loves to help others. George also does his bit for charity, as this month he is doing 3000 push-ups for the Teenager Cancer Trust.
One business who has benefitted from George's content creation is Crafty Corner. The knitting shop on Macclesfield's Mill Street.
"I always do regular weekly meetings with my clients to track the progress of the content I make for them on social media," added George.
"When I last met with Crafty Corner, they told me it was the busiest weekend they ever had, just from some videos I posted that got a few hundred views.
"They told me they hit sales targets that they'd never thought they'd hit. And that for me, made my day. It was an incredible rewarding feeling.
"I say to my customers that this job is not about paying the bills. We charge very fairly to our competitors. We don't have big overheads to pay. Our social media packages speak for themselves. I really enjoy helping grow people's businesses.
"In the future, I'd like to hire someone permanently. "As much as I love using creatives short term to help us create content for our films and social media, it would be great to have another pair of hands join our team full time.
"I would love to get our own space as well. At the moment I edit in IDST Arts inside The Old Sunday school on Roe Street. It is a wonderful creative space for any artist in Macclesfield to use, and it is amazing that it is free to use."
