Macclesfield: Minor overnight fire on Old Park Lane
A fire on old Park Lane has been extinguished by local firefighters.
Six fire engines from Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Congleton, Wilmslow and Lymm helped put out the fire.
The fire was reported by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service when they arrived at 00:04 on October 24.
Firefighters left the scene at 1:24pm the next day, where smoke could still be smelt by passers-by.
The Silk Museum confirmed to Macclesfield Nub News that the fire started in their old library, but no damage has been reported.
Their opening this week has not been affected.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue described it as a "large blaze inside a disused commercial building on Park Lane, Macclesfield."
"On arrival firefighters confirmed a well-developed fire on the ground floor of the building.
"Four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used as the crews began sectorising the building and deploying covering jets.
"The cause of the fire remains under investigation."
Macclesfield property business Hallams, who are dealing with the sale of the adjacent Park Green building, have been contact for comment as to whether their building was impacted by the fire.
