Macclesfield: More borough potholes filled in 2023 so far than early 2022

A longtime scourge of Macclesfield Nub News commenters has been our town's amount of potholes.

And considering our town is a lot hillier, and can have narrow roads, safety concerns can be warranted. 

But according to the latest Cheshire East Council data, the number of potholes that are being filled across the borough is actually significantly higher than it was at the same time in 2022. 

This is according to a Macclesfield Nub News Freedom of Information Request sent to Cheshire East Council. 

The number of potholes being filled in the first four months of 2023 was 9933. 

This is 1200 more than it was at the start of 2022. 

The number of Cheshire East Council filled in pothole figures are as follows:

2022

January 2022 – 2,025 

February 2022 – 2,040

March 2022 – 2,855

April 2022 – 1,813 

Total: 8733

2023

January 2023 – 3,182 

February 2023 – 2,593 

March 2023 – 2,359 

April 2023 – 1,799

Total: 9933

Chelmsford-based contractor Ringway Jacobs conduct pothole repairs in Macclesfield for Cheshire East Highways.
