An anonymous buyer has purchased an ex-community building in Macclesfield.

Morton Hall Community Centre, of Union Road, went under the hammer at an online auction this morning.

Six people put in a bid, but there could only be one winner for the Second World War-era building.

The east Macclesfield venue sold for £199,000 to an anonymous buyer.

This was £59k over the opening bid.

This means that Cheshire East Council no longer own the site, and the property now belongs to the mystery buyer.

Watch this space to find out what happens to it!

The Macclesfield building could no longer continue as a community venue as there were not enough volunteers or trustees to keep the previous regime going.
