Macclesfield MP visits Ukraine ahead of third anniversary of Russian invasion

Macclesfield's MP visited Ukraine ahead of the anniversary of Russia's invasion.
Today, February 24, marks three years since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Tim Roca was recently invited by former Conservative Party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith to tour the war-torn country.
Mr Roca said: "This is a critical moment in Ukraine's fight for freedom, with Russia's illegal war now entering its fourth year.
"The consequences of Ukraine losing this war are terrifying—not just for Ukraine, but for all of us.
"A defeat would trigger a refugee crisis in Europe on a scale not seen since the Second World War and embolden dictators across the globe, reinforcing the dangerous idea that might is right.
"This would pose a direct threat to Britain's security and that of our allies."

During the visit, Mr Roca witnessed the work of the British charity, Hopeful, who were serving pizzas and offering moments of joy to communities devastated by the war.
Mr Roca and Sir Iain also had the chance to meet senior political and military leaders as they travelled from Kyiv to Kremenchuk and on to Kharkiv, which continues to endure 'relentless' air attacks.
"Not a day passed without air raid alarms and Russian strikes on civilians, something Ukrainians must endure every single day," added the MP for Macclesfield.
"In these dangerous times for Ukraine and Europe, cross-party cooperation and unity are not just important, they are essential.
"Defeating evil requires us to stand together, setting aside political differences to defend democracy, freedom, and the values we all cherish."

Mr Roca added: "On the third anniversary of Putin's illegal and brutal invasion - we remember the Ukrainians fighting for the values we share – freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of international law.
"We will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes to win."
