Macclesfield musician's latest track draws Kings of Leon comparisons

By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 9th Mar 2025

A Macclesfield musician's latest track has drawn comparisons to Kings of Leon.

Dan James, who goes by the stage name DandelionJames, has dropped the first single of his upcoming EP.

The song is titled 'He Said, She Said' and is based on Dan's own life experiences.

The 33-year-old gardener said: "The song is all about relationships, arguments and my ex-girlfriend.

"It's really saying how that things can come out better after you have an argument."

Dan was born in Macclesfield, growing up on the Moss Estate.

He moved down to Falmouth in Cornwall before returning to Silktown a few years ago.

Having played the guitar for nearly 20 years now, Dan started releasing music under the DandelionJames moniker in 2021, influenced by artists such as Tame Impala and Bon Iver.

Since then, he has performed at venues across the North West, including opening for The Virginmarys at their album launch show at Cinemac last November.

His latest track was recorded at Big Red Studios on Waterisde and features fellow musicians Charlie Hadfield, Joe Roberts and Alice Cottrell.

He Said, She Said was played on Black Country Xtra on Thursday (March 6), with host Jason Kelly comparing the sound to that of four-time Grammy Award winners, Kings of Leon.

"I tell you what I'm loving the vibe of that," he said.

"It's got that kind of Kings of Leon vocal vibe to it."

Dan's EP, Lonely Town in Falmouth, is due to release in April.
