With buses being the most used form of public transport nationally, Macclesfield is sadly lacking in quality of services - a view expressed almost every day by disgruntled passengers.

That's why Macclesfield Bus Users Group has been set up - to amplify the voice of current and potential bus users in and around the town.

Currently in the process of gathering applications to form an initial committee, the group has been set up by James Barber, who is a Macclesfield Town Councillor and also works as a Public Affairs and Engagement Officer within Transport.

James said: "As someone who has relied upon buses locally for many years, I feel that we as a town are badly let down. When we lost Arriva services, D&G thankfully stepped in."

"But many services were lost and the quality of existing ones has, at times, been below an acceptable standard. Whenever I talk to anyone about buses locally, they're frustrated and disgruntled.

"That's why I've set up MBUG to be the voice of both current and potential passengers in a politically impartial manner, and I hope that together, we can all act as one voice in partnership with the LTA and Bus Operators locally".

The group has a facebook page, which can be found at this link, and a Facebook Group at this link.

For those seeking to support or join the group, please email James at [email protected].
