There's less than a month to go until the centenary celebrations of South Park begins.

So a Macclesfield illustrator has released an unofficial commemorative print of Macclesfield's most recent public park.

West Macclesfield resident Adam Schofield (41) has illustrated the Park Vale Road site in black and white glory.

The artwork features the iconic bandstand, a reference to the new wild flower meadows added by Macclesfield Town Council, and the lake.

"In celebration of South Park's centenary I have illustrated a special print to show how wonderful and well loved it is", he said.

"I loved illustrating the bandstand, it is a very lovely piece of 1920s architecture. I enjoyed drawing South Park of all three parks in Macclesfield, as it was the easiest. 1920s architecture is quite blocky.

"The design took me about six hours to do. Getting the swan to work was tricky but I got there in the end."

Adam's new print is just one of the ways our town is celebrating South Park in the coming weeks.

A civic event will be held on the morning of Saturday August 13, to celebrate the park's birthday. This picnic will give residents a chance to see the five new designs for the next pavilion. A youth event will also be held on August 11.

"I'm looking forward to the events coming up there like on the 13th," added Adam.

"The park is a lovely big open space that was gifted to the town 100 years ago. And it was a pleasure to draw it. I'm pretty sure that this is my new favourite illustration I've done.

"Prints available in my Etsy store or just drop me a message and come and collect one from Greenside in Macclesfield."

The new South Park print, is priced at £12.50 for A4 and £29.95 for A3, and can be purchased by messaging him on social media.

You can also buy via Etsy on this link here.

If you want to see the work before you buy, it will be exhibited at Chestergate café The Monocle.

Last month, Adam also launched a drinks coaster line-up of Macclesfield landmarks.
