Range of Macclesfield landmark drink coasters launched by local illustrator
An artist from West Macclesfield has released a new set of prints and merchandise themed around our town.
Greenside-based Illustrator Adam Schofield (41) has always been fascinated by architecture.
And this month has seen Adam launch a new set of prints, drink coasters and posters themed around Macclesfield landmarks.
The coasters have done the best so far, likely due to the large number of Macclesfield places of interest on offer.
The 11 venues Adam drew into coaster form are: Macclesfield Town Hall, The Picturedrome, Christ Church, The Heritage Centre, St. Michael's Church, Victoria Park, West Park, South Park, Arighi Bianchi and Jodrell Bank.
There is also a coaster which collates lots of local landmarks together, and has become a best seller.
"I didn't think they would sell straight away, but they have all sold really well", he said.
"Everyone has space for it in their house, and everyone needs a coaster.
"And a lot of people from Macclesfield are very proud to call it home, [which is shown by the demand for these coasters].
"I sold 150 in the first two weeks, and they did really well recently at the One Project Summer Festival at Christ Church.
"Another best-seller is the coaster of Macclesfield Town Hall. But most people tend to buy a set of four so they get a nice mix. I tried to pick the landmarks which capture everyone's experience of Macclesfield, so everyone can relate to it."
Adam has also launched a smaller range of products relating to Prestbury landmarks.
Sites include St. Peter's Church, Prestbury Village Hall, Priest's House, and a general scene of the sought after village.
"I want to also do one of 108 Steps in Macclesfield next", Adam added.
"It is taking me quite a while to do. But of the ones that are complete, one of the longest Macclesfield ones that took me to do was Victoria Park.
"It has got some very lovely, ornate Victorian ironwork on it. It took me five to six hours to do that one.
"I draw and make all the illustrations in colour first, so I can use them for other pieces of merchandise, and then I digitise them and turn them into black and white."
The coasters can be snapped up for £5 each, and you can buy them online here. A set of four costs just £18 when bought on Etsy.
Adam is also a Trustee of Macclesfield's The Rossendale Trust, and even uses the Sutton good cause to make the coasters of his work.
A new Macclesfield print, which cost starts at £13.95 online at various sizes, can be purchased here.
He also hopes to have a stall at our town's Christmas Lights switch-on, which is a busy time of year for him. Last year, he also raised £425 for the charity Cheshire Streetwise through Macclesfield-themed Christmas cards.
Adam has also recently started a set of Congleton-themed merchandise for the first time, for which you can read more about on our sister site Congleton Nub News. He also does artwork of Bollington.
