As good as it can be for you, exercising can be very monotonous.

But when you add in a social element, every workout can feel different, even if you are doing the same routine.

And a new start-up by Macclesfield personal trainers, will have fitness-lovers training together in small, intimate groups.

TrueFit Group Personal Training is a group training business by Macclesfield personal trainers Mandy Wong Oultram and Dominique Ambrose.

Mandy, and two other coaches will use Dominique's gym to provide bespoke personal training sessions for smaller groups.

Whilst most gyms offer one-to-one personal training sessions, or classes filled with up to 30 people, TrueFit offers a happy medium of group sessions in the single-digits, but with a community-like feel.

The TrueFit group sessions will take place at Macclesfield Performance, the gym established in 2016, that is located in Canon Mill on Gunco Lane.

By having the new brand separate from the gym, not only does it appeal to people who may not have come to the gym before, but it also allows PTs like Mandy to develop their businesses as they are self-employed.

Mandy has worked as a PT in Macclesfield for seven years, spending the majority of that working at Macclesfield Performance. Now, she has launched the TrueFit brand to offer variety in keeping fit.

"A class can sometimes have a lot more people, whereas at TrueFit our group sessions see to six-to-eight clients," said Mandy.

"It means that we can offer really high quality coaching to each individual, and check they are doing the techniques properly.

"As they are smaller groups, we can also tailor the programs to the individuals as well.

Group sessions benefit personal trainers by adding variety to their job, a cause which is close to Mandy has is keen to promote the fact that job retention in personal trainers nationally is low.

Group sessions are also great for clients as they can train with their friend, partner or relative, as well as receiving closer feedback than they would in a class full of a few dozen people.

As well as Mandy designing a group programme, tailored towards those who attend the TrueFit group sessions, individuals can give feedback on what exercises work for them, and what they'd like to do in the group sessions.

"You don't have to be a member of Macclesfield Performance gym to attend a TrueFit session," added Mandy.

"Anyone from outside of the gym can come to a TrueFit Group. For two sessions a week (at least eight a month), it is £85. It works as a subscription model, which you can cancel anytime.

"And then three sessions a week will be £100 per month, and we also have an unlimited package where they can attend as many TrueFit sessions as they want, and also have full membership access to Macclesfield Performance gym whenever they want.

"I decided to start it under a new brand as not only are we working in partnership with Macclesfield Performance to deliver this, but FlexFit my pre-existing personal training brand is more female-oriented, but TrueFit have group training sessions open to everyone."

The group sessions will be at 6:30am, 9:30am, 6:30pm during the week, and a Saturday slot at 9:30am.

The first sessions begin the week commencing Monday September 11.

"The TrueFit sessions are catered to this facility, so anything that you are doing uses our state-of-the-art equipment," said Macclesfield Performance gym-owner Dominique.

"Mandy is one of the most professional people I know. She has been working here for five years next month.

"She is a real team player, really committed to her growing her business, and full of great innovative ideas like we see with TrueFit.

"It is great to work with someone with the same kind of focus, but different perspectives coming in."

TrueFit's creation comes at a time where Macclesfield Performance Gym is planning a rapid expansion, almost doubling their square footage in size, which will allow for the creation of studios for more of these tailored group personal training sessions to be delivered.

"We are tailoring a lot of our expansion to the fact that we are running group PT sessions with Mandy," added Dominique.

"This is big a next step to support our personal trainers that use this space.

"The only way to really create a community-feel at the gym, especially one good enough to have a group community is to join forces with each other.

"We promote that here a lot, with everything we do, to be a much more inclusive facility for coaches and gym-goers.

"We have been here a long-time [since 2016], have a loyal customer base and look forward to making us better and better."

"And like with Macclesfield Performance, the great thing about TrueFit is that it is very customer-focused.

"As Mandy said, the idea is to create a platform for other coaches and PTs who want additional business or training experience, as well as one for clients as well."
