Macclesfield photographers offer big discount to raise funds for charity
Macclesfield's longest-running photography business is doing their bit for charity this month.
Founded in Sunderland Street in 1964, before moving to Mill Street and now 19 Queen Victoria Street where they reside today, Ollier Photography hold multiple charity drives in a year.
They achieve this by waiving some of their usual photography fees to raise money for a good cause.
And while in recent years they have fundraised for local schools, this month sees them raise money for a breast cancer charity for the first time.
The good cause Prevent Breast Cancer, based in Wythenshawe Hospital, will hope to receive cash from the Macclesfield photography business.
The family business, ran by Matt and Joe Oliver, explained how it works.
"How it works is the family should contact us saying they want to do the charity shoot this April", said Matthew.
"They will donate £25 which we will give to Prevent Breast Cancer.
"In return, they will get a photo shoot service which normally costs £180 [saving you 45%], and a ten by eight inch photograph you can put up in your home."
Digital options are also available.
Customers can also buy extra prints for another fee.
A family business since the start, Ollier Photography has always seen themselves as part of the community, from capturing moments in time to hosting the now-defunct Macclesfield Baby Competition.

"Normally when we do charity shoots we can get up to 40 entrants," added Matthew.
"The good thing about this is that every party wins.
"The charity get a donation, we gain a customer, and the family who has done a donation get a print and make a saving of £155, whilst doing their bit for charity too.
"Breast cancer is something that affects everyone, we all know somebody who has gone through it.
"We'd like to thank Heather Glover who approached us to come up with the idea for this."
It is their first charity fundraiser of 2023.
If successful, it could lead to even wider community benefits.
"We were thinking about maybe having this offer as a continual thing and choosing a different charity each month", said Joe.
"A family photo can really make you remember a landmark age, and the photoshoot brings families together.
"Quite often we have families as large as ten people coming in for a shoot. And it is a big confidence booster as well."
