A Macclesfield pub is accepting donations of advent calendars, that they will distribute to a charity.

The Old Millstone pub, of Waters Green, does their bit for the community throughout the year.

And the festive period is no different.

Infact, the Macclesfield pub is one of 80 community pubs across the north west who are asking their customers to donate advent calendars this year, so everyone gets a treat in the lead up to Christmas.

The pubd, which are part of Proper Pubs - the community-driven wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns - are asking customers to drop of advent calendars to their local Proper Pub between 14th October and 24th November, before being donated to a host of local charities in need.

The donation point at the Old Millstone is behind the bar.

Publican Eli Fernihough told Macclesfield Nub News "We are pleased to offer this for the community.

"The donated advent calendars will go to Silklife Foodbank.

"Throughout Christmas, we will be gifting selection boxes and advent calendars, and providing 'a giving tree' for numerous charities across Macclesfield.

"We will also be doing a Xmas day buffet for lonely isolated. Thank you to the community for their support."

Any new advent calendar or selection box can be donated, bought from any shop.

The Old Millstone is open seven days a week. So it will be easy to drop your choccy donation at the pub.

Over the past two years, across its estate of more than 200 pubs, Proper Pubs has donated almost 40,000 Christmas selection boxes to local charities through the kind generosity of its community members.

Other festive events at the Macclesfield pub include a Santa's Grotto on December 1, and December 8.
