A pub is encouraging Macclesfield go around town in festive clothing for charity.

The Old Millstone pub on Waters Green are encouraging punters to dress in Christmas jumpers, elves or St. Nick himself, whilst prancing through Macclesfield town centre.

The event is to raise vital funds for Macclesfield's Space4Autism, the Mill Lane charity which helps families with autistic children.

The December 9 get together is a mixture of a Santa dash and a pub crawl, starting at the Old Millstone pub and touring the town whilst supporting other independent venues.

Pub staff, locals and the wider community will take part in this December event.

Donations will be raised for Space4Autism on the day.

Just turn up at The Old Millstone in festive garb for 12pm on Saturday December 9.

Publican Eli Fernihough said: "We are looking forward to raising money for Space4Autism, as well as supporting local Macclesfield businesses."

"We will be bringing Space4Autism charity pots on the day. So please bring cash for charity donations."

The pub is located inbetween to the old Bull and Gate Inn, now used as offices on the left, and The Nags Head pub and 108 steps to the right.

Other venues to be visited on this Santa dash-come-pub crawl will be confirmed at a later date.

Claire Hancock, Operations Manager of Space4Autism said: "We are delighted that the Macclesfield community have chosen to support us again,"

"We will use this towards our social clubs for autistic children.

"What a fantastic event. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this happen. Your support is greatly appreciated."

The announcement of the fundraiser comes just days before Space4Autism are set to receive a bumper cheque from the Co-op in Macclesfield.

It is not the first time the pub has raised funds for Space4Autism.

The pub is located on Waters Green, opposite Macclesfield Railway Station.

The central Macclesfield pub recently installed a new karaoke room.

And if you can't wait for the Santa Dash, the Old Millstone will be hosting an Oktoberfest this weekend with steins, German food and music.
