While it is the only pub left on the west side of Chestergate, it's location is also a bonus for the next person to take the pub on, as 45 new flats are coming just next door.

Outgoing 'pub mum' Wendy Smith wrote on Facebook: "I have loved every minute of being at the Swan, and would like to thank every single band/ musician and patrons for your loyal support over the years."

"I shall organise a good ole' knees-up to say bye. I'm looking at being out at the end of January 2024.

"Thanks for the good times."
