A Macclesfield farm is letting you pick huge, colourful pumpkins once more.

Libby's Patch in Gawsworth, ran by Daniel Thornicroft and family, is open again for pumpkin picking.

"This is our fourth year doing pumpkins, said farmer Dan.

"New this year, we are back into the big original field which everyone seemed to prefer.

"We've added two new photo opportunities including a big orange Libby's sign.

"We've also invested in a new seating area, so people can enjoy their day out here and not get as muddy."

"Libby's is a great day out. We have a picnic area, sell hot drinks, hot dogs and pizzas."

They are also selling pumpkin honey for a second year.

Libby's Patch was recently named as one of the best pick-your-own pumpkin spots in the north west.

Farmer Dan explained how it works: "Also new for this year, we have changed the booking system," he revealed.

"We have a QR code system, which allows you to change your booking, if something comes up.

"Tickets are available every 30 minutes now, so we don't have any congestion issues on the carpark.

"That is better for the customer as they are not waiting in the car, and there are no queues."

3500 families went to pick pumpkins at Libby's Patch last year, so pushing 10,000 people.

And that is just for autumn, as the site has events throughout the year including Christmas trees picking later this year.

The site of the autumnal day out is named after Daniel's late mother, a choice reflecting the family day-out vibes that Libby's is known for.

Libby's Patch is located at Shellow Ln, Gawsworth, Macclesfield SK11 9RS.

"The pumpkin growing season has struggled this year", explained Daniel.

"One, because it was very hot when we drilled the pumpkins in May, and two the rainy July meant there wasn't a large window for the bees to come leave the hive and flower them. You only have a day for bees to feed the flower.

"We're open for pumpkin picking every weekend in October from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. [Book HERE].

"And we are open for all of the last week in October [21st to 29th], closer to Halloween and for the half-term as well.

For adults, they have also introduced a scare maze for the first time this year. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"I would like to say a big thank you to the community for supporting us.

"You are supporting a young local farming family, and helping us live our dream living and working on the land.

"We would not be able to do this without you."

Beyond the family-themed pumpkin picking events, Libby's have also introduced a scare maze for the first time this year.

The Field of Fears scare maze uses local actors, and revolves around the story of a fictional mass-murdering farmer.
