Macclesfield Puss Bank School spends large cash donation from local Co-op to benefit children
Macclesfield's Puss Bank Primary School has received a generous donation from its nearby Co-op, of an outstanding £1222.
Puss Bank School, of Barracks Lane, sought to gather funds for new outdoor school equipment to improve school life for their students.
Following a successful grant application, this first round of funds has now been spent.
The funds have been spent on basketball hoops to benches. And they will receive a second cash donation from the Co-op later this year, to further improve their outdoor area.
"Without the grant, we can't afford everything we have so far," Headteacher Rachael Hammond said.
"A massive thank you from all of us at Puss Bank.
"[The] old hoops we had were mobile ones so they would fall over whereas these are actually concreted into the ground."
The relationship between Puss Bank and Co-op is very prominent with Rachael's staff having common trips to the shop.
Their Buxton Road stop is located literally around the corner.
"I know a lot of staff like the Co-op because it is somewhere they can nip out at lunchtime," she added.
"Staff in the Co-op are very friendly. I know a lot of parents and children go and nip in to go get an ice cream.
"Thank you for everything they've done to provide the grant."
With the grant, Rachael described the happiness among the students and to keep on upgrading Puss Bank.
"Children really enjoy playing basketball," she revealed.
"The new basketball hoops which are very popular.
"We're always looking for ways to sort of extend and increase the what we have to offer."
